Approval of a job offer is usually required to obtain a Canada work permit

There are 3 ways to approve a job for a Canadian work permit:

  • First, it may be approved as part of a provincial nominee application.
  • Second, it may be approved by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA, previously called an LMO). This is issued after the government ensures that the employer has advertised or recruited to find a Canadian but was not able to find a qualified Canadian to do the job.

Hiring an immigration lawyer doesn’t mean your case will get special attention from the immigration authorities, and it doesn’t guarantee success. Still, a lawyer can help you avoid common mistakes that could derail your application.
